Track Your 2024 Tax Refund

You can track the status of your 2024 income tax refund within 24-48 hours after e-filing, once the IRS begins accepting returns. If you’re checking the status of prior-year returns, please allow 3–4 days after e-filing. For paper returns, wait 4 weeks before checking your refund status.

To check your refund, you will need:

  • Your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)

  • Your filing status

  • The exact refund amount listed on your tax return

Please note, refund information is updated once a day, usually overnight.

How it works:
Where's My Refund will show the status of your refund:

  • Return Received – We have received your return and are processing it.

  • Refund Approved – Your refund has been approved and is being prepared for issuance by the shown date.

  • Refund Sent – Your refund has been sent to your bank or by mail. It may take up to 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for a check to arrive by mail.
